1. This semester, you worked on two scenes and created a monologue. What surprised you? This could be something you thought would be challenging but found yourself comfortable doing OR it can be something you found challenging but made it through. To be honest I never thought I would be comfortable doing these scenes. I surprised myself with going out of my comfort zone and creating this character and making myself seem like I'm in the life of this person. I didn't realize how much given the circumstances of your character, but they help create knowledge of exactly what the character wants and what they are doing to get it. 2. What advice would you give to a student who is just starting their work on an acting scene? The biggest piece of advice I would give is to be confident and keep in mind what your character wants. From there it comes naturally. Your job is to get your audience to give you want you want by using those important verbs. 3. Did you complete your Student Evaluation sent via email from Banner? Please do so. Yes Monologue: Hi youtube. It's emi. I hope you're all having an amazing day. I just wanted to make this video to talk to you guys a little bit. As you all know I recently moved out to LA to further my career. My family was super supportive about it but I know they have their doubts in me. I also lost most of my friends from back home once I started gaining a following because I realized I was being used for fame and people didn't want to be my friend for the right reasons. I've been super lonely since I got to LA and made the big move from home. I know this is seriously what's best for me but I've been having my doubts lately. The amount of hate I get from social media every day is insane. Everyday someone is pointing out a new insecurity of mine. They tell me I'll never be good enough, call me ugly, and say no wonder I have no friends. It's really started getting to me. Especially being a model, everything about myself is always being critiqued. I just want my viewers to realize that just because someone has a platform and a lot of followers doesn't mean they aren't a person. I have feelings too and so do all the other people in the social media community. I just want to be successful in my career and prove to everyone that social media and modeling isn't a fake job. It's very time consuming and I work hard to earn the money and platform that I have right now. I ask all of you to just think before leaving a comment on a video. All these haters show is that they have insecurities within themselves. After a lot of time to myself thinking of what to do about this, I've come to the realization that I'm not going to let the hate hurt my career. I know that I am successful and that's truly all that matters. I may never be able to end social media hate because there's also going to be rotten people in the world who feel the need to make a negative assumption or comment on a video, but at least I won't let the hate bother me anymore because that's giving the haters exactly what they want. I am going to continue to post and be confident in my modeling career and share my experiences with you all. If you like my content then you can simply click the unfollow button. I'm glad I realized that these people cat bring me down and I hope I helped you all as well. ‘

1. List 7 important examples of your character’s personal given circumstances? (7 sentences) Her husband died in a fire She had a miscarriage She still hears the baby cry She captured the soul of her husband and kept it in a box and talks to it Marigolds symbolize her and her husbands love The wooer is trying to take her out on a date She wants to move forward with the wooer but its too hard for her 2. List 5 important aspects of the relationship between your character and the character they are speaking to? She knows the wooer because he was friends with her husband She is trying to finally move on from the soul and date the wooer but she has a hard time The wooer is trying to help her move on The wooer respects her and supports her through the process She doesn't end up with wooer at the end like you expect 3. How do they know each other, what is their relationship, is status important, etc? Do not repeat given circumstances from above. (7 sentences) The relationship between the wooer and the widow is pretty anticlimactic. Throughout the play the wooer tries to please the widow and take her out so that they can fall in love and she can finally let go of her husband. He is very nice and understanding about her situation, but pushy in a way because he wants to be with her. Status in this case is not important. The widow’s husband worked with the wooer so he and the husband probably made the same money and were pretty similar. The widow's reason for holding back from the wooer so much is just because she cant move on and doesn't want to let go of the soul of her husband. At the end of the play the widow actually lets go of the soul but doesn't end up with the wooer either. 4. What do they want from the character they are speaking to. Be specific. (3 sentences) The widow wants help to move on from her past. In a way she wants a support system. She also wants to love the wooer but it is just too hard for her. 5. Why do they want it? Cite examples from the play. (7 sentences) The widow wants this from the wooer for the main reason being that she just wants to move forward with her life. She has had her husband's soul in a box for two years and she doesn't let herself move forward from it. She thinks that being with the wooer can help her take that step. She even agrees to do things with the wooer like get rid of some of his stuff in the closet, but when it actually came down to it she wasn't ready. I think she realizes it's very strange how she's holding his soul and wont let him go into heaven where the soul belongs. The soul also wants her to move on because he wants what's best for her. She tries to listen to him but it's not easy. 6. What will happen to your character if they do not get what they want from the character they are speaking to? ( 5 sentences) If the widow doesn't get help from the wooer she will just be living in denial for the rest of her life. She will never let go of the soul and basically only find love through a dead person. She will not be able to feel intamacy again. The soul will never be able to be free into heaven. Lastly, the widow may never find happiness again. 7. What are five tactics/verbs that you character uses? ( 5 words) Reminisce Apologize Remembers Recognizes Appreciates 8. Why do they use those tactics as opposed to others? example why do they threaten instead of plead? (5 sentences) She uses these tactics because she feels bad for the wooer. He is a nice man trying to help her but she just isn't ready to move on yet. All she can think about is the memories of her and her husband. She knows that she needs to let the soul go and that the wooer is doing everything he can to help her which is why she is nice about it and appreciates it. She recognizes that she should be moving on which is why she agrees to see the wooer in the first place. 9. How do you think your character sees themselves? What do they think of themselves? (10 sentences) I think the widow sees herself as a very loving and caring person. She loved her husband so much that she cant move on from him. I also think she almost feels like she can't be with the wooer because that would be insulting the soul. I think the widow regrets alot from her past and situations that happened with her husband because she cant change any of it now that he's gone. I think she is really mad at herself for this even though she doesn't directly say it. She even looks back at specific things she said she says she wishes she would have said something different. I also just think she's very sad. Losing someone so special to you is not an easy thing to go through. She is very strong for what she has to handle. She also probably is proud of herself for even agreeing and taking any steps towards forgetting the soul. At the end of the play she is probably very proud for finally letting go. What are they afraid of? (3 sentences) The widow is afraid of a life without her husband. Although he is physically gone she doesn't want to let go of the soul because she's scared to move forward. She is also scared of loving again. 10. How do they protect themselves? (3 sentences) The widow originally thinks that keeping the soul will protect her. She comes to realize that letting the soul go is what actually will help her. She also holds back from the widow in hopes of protecting her feelings. 11. What makes them happy? (3 sentences) The memories the widow has of her and her husband makes her happy. Talking to the soul is what keeps her happy. The wooer also makes her happy but in a different way. 12. In what ways are you similar to your character and in what ways are you different. (10 sentences) I am similar to the widow being that I am a person who cannot easily move on. Whether it is a past relationship Ive had or a death of a loved one, I can never wrap my head around someone actually being gone. Also, just in general when I love something I have a hard time moving forward from it. This makes it very hard to accept help. I would say my heart is definitely as big as hers. The widow also mentions how she doesnt like small talk. I as well feel like small talk is just annoying and i would rather talk about something deep and real. She also sees the good in the soul even through his bad qualities. She convinces him that what he did on earth was good even know they went through rough patches like when he wanted a divorce after the miscarriage. It may not always be a good thing but i find the good in all people no matter what. I'm different from her obviously being that I am a lot younger and have a lot more to learn with marriage and relationships. 13. Attach a photo of your what your character might look like to you. I do not care about age, race, gender, for the image. Maybe it is what they are wearing? Maybe it is how they are standing? Maybe it is an actor you could imagine playing the role in a movie? For some reason in my head I just picture the widow like DJ Tanner from fuller house because her husband was a firefighter and died in a fire as well.

In Mid-Tern Play Choices
1. What play did you choose? Vigils by Noah Haidle 2. Why? (2 sentences) I chose this play because its about a woman who is a widow and she converses throughout the play with her dead husbands soul. I thought this was very interesting and would be cool to preform. 3. What moment in the story seems the most resonate with you? (3 sentences) Themoment in this play that evokes the most feeling for me would probably be the end. The widow finally realizes that she must let go of the soul for herself to move on and be happy. This was both sad yet a good thing for her at the same time, a very bittersweet feeling. 4. Who are you playing? I am playing the widow. 5. List one example of their given circumstances? (1 sentence) The woman is a widow because her husband was a firefighter and died in a fire trying to save a baby. She also had a miscarriage that still haunts her. 6. What happens at the end of the play? (5 sentences) At the end of the play the widow finally lets go of her husbands soul that she's been holding on to for so long. She realizes this is what she must do to make herself happy. She frees the soul into heaven and finds herself with marigolds and I think she is finally going to be happy with the wooer. The memory of her husband will always be there but she is moving on to a new chapter in her life.

What was the name of the piece you saw? The piece I saw was The Celebrity Guide to Mental Health and Wellness. Describe the final moment of the piece? What happened? In the final moment of the piece David shares his own experience battling depression. It was surprising to me hearing him talk personally about it because he seems like such a strong person throughout the piece teaching others how to handle their mental health issues. He brings up a time in college where he remembers the first time he has thoughts of suicide and how he has pushed throug and gotten better. He shares that he might not be okay right now but he knows he will be which is very inspiring to people watching. If you had to ascribe a moral to this piece, what would it be? Why do you think that? The moral of this piece is to bring awareness to the subjects of anxiety and depression. It is also to help people who may be struggling and show them that they are not alone. Many people go through these issues and it is a scary place to be. David teaches people from his own experience which makes this piece very relatable. What was an element you enjoyed about the piece? Why did you enjoy it? An element of this piece I especially enjoyed was the parts where David brought in people to do exercises with him. The exercise that really caught my attention was when he brought in Jake to do the anti self and real self exercise. They wrote down negative self talk that they experience on a day to day basis. In this role play Jake repeated David's negative self talk to him, which was “you're going to end up alone”, over and over again. This actually triggered something in David's mind because you could tell right away how his mannerism changed and he became very upset. Throughout this piece David teaches everyone how to overcome these issues but we don't see that he experiences them as well until this point of the performance. What was an element that confused you? Why did it confuse you? What could have been done differently to make it clearer to you? An element that confused me was the part where David is almost acting as a comedian. I just don't really understand how this fits into the piece as a whole. I was thinking this maybe came from the point that David made in the beginning where he says, “all comedy comes from tragedy”. Also, in the middle of certains parts it just cuts out to a different screen where David teaches us facts about the brain. It just seems very discombobulated when he goes from funny to serious. Maybe this was just to lighten the mood which I could definitely understand. What did the character WANT? David wanted to bring awareness to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and help people through these issues. What tactics or actions did they use to get what they wanted. Teach Explain Relate Did you enjoy their performance? Why or why not? I did really enjoy this performance. I think it could especially be very helpful to someone who has experienced these problems and needs advice from someone who can actually relate to what they are feeling and going through. It was very inspirational and worth the watch. What moment in the piece did you feel the most connected to the performance? Describe it. I think at the end of the piece I felt most connected. This is because it was very sentimental and you almost feel like he's talking to you at the end. He's talking about his own experience and it is actually very sad and heartfelt. I know people who have struggled with depression and it's heartbreaking to see anyone feel like they don't want to be alive anymore. It is also very inspiring that David would take the time to try to help others through their problems while he is still struggling. Suicide is a very touchy subject. Many people have these horrible thoughts in their mind and it is not their fault. It is very nice to hear someone talk about it and let people know they are loved and worth a lot more than they think.

I went to Jamba juice at 9 pm. I went at 9 pm because I was at Chipotle earlier. I was at Chipotle because I was hungry and wanted food. I was hungry because I hadn't eaten all day. I hadn't eaten all day because I lost my hamster. I lost my hamster because he snuck into the wall. He got into the wall because me and my boyfriend let him run around in the bathroom and there was a hole we couldn't see. We let him run around because he seemed like he needed more space. He needed more space because his cage isn't big enough for him. It isn't big enough for him because he's bigger than our previous hamster. We got a new hamster because we had to return the previous one we got. We returned the previous one because it was evil. It was evil because it didn't like when we touched it. The reason we got a new hamster was because our other one died a few months ago. The reason we got it a few months later was because we had broken up for a while. We had broken up right after we went to wildwood with our friends for the week. We went to wildwood for the week for our senior trip. This was the only good thing about our senior year. This was the only good thing about our senior year because we didn't get a prom or a graduation. We didn't get all of that because of Covid. The last fun thing I did before Covid was snowboarding. I went snowboarding because I love to do that and there's a mountain 20 minutes from my lakehouse. I have a lake house because my family loves the lake. My family loves the lake because I grew up going to a lakehouse in St.Louis, MO. We had a lakehouse in St. Louis because my dad's whole side of the family lives there. They live there because that's where my dad grew up. My dad moved here because he went to school in Rhode Island. He went to school in Rhode Island because he went to Brown University. He went to Brown University to play soccer. He played soccer because that's his passion. He met my mom through one of his teammates. The teammate was friends with my mom. He was friends with my mom because they worked together. My mom worked for 25 years. She stopped working to stay home and take care of us. She had to stay home because my dad travels all the time and we had activities to go to. The activities we did was my brother had football and me and my sister had cheerleading. I have done cheerleading since I was 5. I started out doing pop warner cheer and then I joined an allstar team. I joined an allstar team because it was more competitive. It was more competitive because we traveled all over the country for competitions. We travelled to places like Texas, Atlantic City, Florida, and much more.
