My character is at her home in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Her home is about 40 minutes away from Charleston.

My character (Ellen) is a lawyer. She likes to spend her time on the beach while researching her cases.

The reputation of her family is very important to her, especially the reputation of her South Carolina Senator husband, Austin.

Ellen deep down knows that the person she is representing committed the murder. She is worried about tarnishing the reputation of her family by winning the case for him.

Her husband is a senator because he felt inclined to get involved with politics. She cares so much about his reputation so he can get re-elected and so her reputation also will not be tarnished when she eventually runs for president. It doesn't really matter to her that he's a senator. She cares that he is happy with his job and he is very happy.

Her economic status is extremely high. Her best friend Emma is very important to her. They have been friends since they were 3 years old. Her relationship with her daughter CJ is very positive. They have a great mother daughter relationship. Her husband also has a good relationship with CJ.

She is representing him because she knows he's guilty because she already agreed to represent him and feels that it is wrong for her to back out on him. She only realized he was guilty after doing intense research that she believes the prosecutor did not do. She doesn't think that the prosecutor knows this incriminating evidence. Her daughter is a year old. She is more worried about her family's reputation at that point.

She has a great relationship with her family. Her and her husband get along very well. Her parents moved down to South Carolina with her. Her older sister still lives in New Jersey because she works in Philadelphia. She met her husband when she was 10 on her summer swim team.

She likes to research cases at the beach because the beach has always been a happy place for her, even when she lived in New Jersey. She decided her freshman year of college that she wanted to be a lawyer. She still wants to be a lawyer after this because she loves her job and spent about $270,000 on law school.
