Eve and Chase
1. The men are imperial guards.
They cannot speak. They cannot move.
Humayun knows a lot about birds.
Humayun's father is a high ranking in the Imperial army.
Humayun and Babur were in the army together.
Babur is very curious.
2. Babur really wants to look at the Taj Mahal in the first light of the morning because it will never be that beautiful again. He wants more out of life than just being a low rank guard. You can tell he wants this by how he talks about Ustad Isa and seems jealous of him. Humayun wants to follow the rules and make his father proud. Every time Babur speaks ill or breaks a rule, Humayun yells at him.
3. Babur is being very persuasive and convince Humayun to get what he wants.

1. Babur and Humayun are royal guards at the Taj Mahal.
They are of the lowest rank.
Humayun's father is a very high ranking official and treats his son poorly.
Babur is an inexperienced guard.
Humayun is very experienced and loyal to the rules and government.
Babur is very imaginative and inventive.
They are not allowed to look at the Taj Mahal during its construction.
2. Babur wants something more out of life than being a guard under the order of an emperor. He wants to see other places and explore his creativity. I think he wants this because he seems very bored of being a guard, never standing still or staying quiet. An example of his want is when he begins to talk to Humayun about the logistics of building an "aeroplat" and flying out into the stars.
3. To get what he wants, an escape from his boredom, Babur is pestering Humayun with his ramblings, and even convincing him to speak back by asking questions.

-Humayan tries to be the perfect guard because he wants to earn his fathers respect.
2- What does your Character WANT and why do you think they want it? Give an example from the text.
-Humayan wants to follow the rules and be the textbook guard. You can infer from the text that he wants to impress his father because his father is ashamed of him. "My father yearns for my defeat. Always has. You know him." he is constantly correcting Babur and trying to make him follow the rules so neither of them lose their jobs. All he wants is to be accepted by his father.
3- What Tactic or Verb is your character doing to get what they want?
-Humayan is being very stern with Babur. Constantly yelling at him to follow the rules and do his job.

- Being an Imperial Guard causes Humayun a lot of stress and fear because of the importance of the job.
2- What does your Character WANT and why do you think they want it? Give an example from the text. Babur wants to be doing something more with his life. He wants life to be more interesting because he's bored. When he's talking about how he predicts there were will be palanquin that can reach the stars, Humayun says "You and your fantasies." Babur then says "not fantasies; predictions." showing how imaginative his mind can be.
3- What Tactic or Verb is your character doing to get what they want? Babur is trying to persuade Humayun that is beliefs about the palanquin will come true in the near future.
Given circumstance: Humayun is the son of a high ranking general. Himayun also is aware of rumors of the workers going to lose their hands. Humayun is a more respectable/ attentive guard. Babur is a dreamer, he has things he keeps thinking of and distracting him throughout the play. Both of these men are nearly the lowest ranking in the imperial guard as they are given the worst jobs. They are very close as they are very willing to help and talk to each other even when there is a risk of danger for doing so. Babur seems to come from a more common family as with his mannerisms compared to Humayun who we know is from a prestigious family.
Humayun just wants to do him job and climb the ranks of the royal guard. This is inferred from the text early on when the two must guard the Taj mahal. Babur wants only to see it and break rules where as Humayun is trying to follow them very strictly.
Humayun is trying to rise in the ranks by following rules and being a good and cautious guard.

They can’t look at the Tajmahal because they are guarding it.
Humayan’s dad is part of the All-On-High imperial guard.
Humayan and Babur are the lowest ranking guards.
They were in the war together and friends before.
They had to work together in the past to build a platform in the tree to sleep.
Babur is curious about the stars and likes to talk so he asks Humayan for information.
Ustad Isa is the architect of the Tajmahal and is always happy
Babur wants to look at the Tajmahal. Humayan wants to respect their position as guards and prevent Babur from looking at the Tajmahal.
“He’s building Tajmahal. He is the architect of the most beautiful thing ever built.”
“The happiest man in the world is also the craziest. Behead that man. Kick his skull to the dogs. Let them play with it, as dogs do” (Humayan).
Babur is praising. Humayun is dissuading.

Given Circumstances: Babur is very curious, Humayan knows something that Babur does not, they are not allowed to see the Taj Mahal, Ustad Isa is the architect of the Taj Mahal (very important and cannot walk through it), Ustad Isa and Babur both want to see the Taj Mahal, Babur is very stubborn and even a little hard headed, Hamayun want to protect Babur from making any bad decisions that could lead to some crazy punishments
Babur wants to know what Humayun knows that he does not. He wants to know because he is very intrigued by the whole Taj Mahal situation and is very nosy. An example to show this is how he was acting when he knew that Humayun knew something that he didn't. Humayun just wants to keep his job and make sure Babur does the right thing. Humayun constantly reminds Babur of what he was supposed to be doing and tries to keep him from looking at the Taj Mahal.
Babur was clearly begging Humayun to tell him. Humayun went from avoiding to explaining.
